The Gulf War

How the Gulf War started

This is a fight between Iraq and Kuwait in the Persian Gulf region, which took place from 1990 onwards. The United States and Middle Eastern countries also participated in the war.

Iraq wanted to seize Kuwait to take possession of its oil. In 1991, 100,000 Iraqi soldiers entered the neighboring country.

The Kuwaiti monarchs applied escape. Kuwait tried to react with air strikes, but it was not possible to even carry out a simple defense against the Iraqi troops.

Gulf post Invasion

After the invasion, Kuwait was integrated as the 19th province of Iraq. Iraq suffered a UN economic embargo because of this.

Soon after, the UN determined that by January 15, 1991, Iraqi soldiers must leave Kuwait. On January 16, 1991, Iraq began to be bombed and attacked by US troops.

The Iraqis tried to expand the conflict and attacked Israel. However, Israel did not fall into the trap and maintained diplomatic relations with Iraq.

Iraq, cornered, still carried out one last war maneuver, which was to burn Kuwait's oil installations. Just a month after the start of the war, Iraq was already being destroyed.

On February 28, 1991, Iraq announced its withdrawal from Kuwait. Saddan Hussein, even though he lost the war, still remained in power in the country.

The rapid defeat of the Iraqi army demonstrated the nation's military weakness. The USA was, once again, honored for promoting peace.
