Many of us may have already heard the name Androgyny. The term is nothing more than a mixture of feminine and masculine characteristics in a single individual, or a way of describing a being that is neither female nor male.
A person who is considered an androgynous, in relation to gender identity, is in fact an individual who does not fit into a masculine or feminine identity. Strangely but commonly, male androgens use female accessories, while female androgens use male accessories.
Some people assume that it is actually homosexuality and bisexualism, which is not true, as androgeny is linked to an individual's individual appearance or even their sexual orientation.
Thus, androgynous people can be identified as homosexual, bisexual, heterosexual, asexual or pansexual.
According to psychologists, androgenia consists of gender dysphoria, responsible for a psychic condition in which the individual is not part of either the male or female sex, but rather a hybrid individual, mentally speaking.
The term androgeny is not new; this topic has been discussed for some time. Greek mythology is full of androgynous beings, as described in ''The Symposium'', written by the philosopher Plato.
