Specific cases for using Crase

In some cases, Crase is subject to verification.

Crases before place names: Crasses only occur before place names that admit the preposition of the article a when governed by the preposition a. An easy way to check if there is a preposition of the article a is to replace the preposition a with the prepositions de or em.

Contraction of the preposition a with feminine definite article a: a + a = à

Contraction of the preposition de with feminine definite article a: de + a = da

Contraction of the preposition em with feminine definite article a: em + a = na
