Jiu Jitsu – Martial Arts

The word jiu-jitsu is of Japanese origin where jū means smoothness and jutsu means technique or art. It is a martial art of Japanese origin, aimed at attack and self-defense and there is no use of weapons.
It was introduced to Japan in the 17th century by the Chinese monk Chen Yuan-Ping.
Considered the basis of several modern sporting combats and other martial arts, including karate and judo.

The main Japanese jiu jitsu schools are: Araki-ryu; Daito-ryu aiki-jujutsu; Hontai Yoshin-ryu; Sekiguchi Shinshin-ryu; Sosuishitsu-ryu; Takenouchi-ryu; Tatsumi-ryu; Tenjin Shinyo-ryu; Yagyu Shingan Ryu and Yoshin Ryu.

Graduations in the practice of this art take place through bands and length of stay, as follows:

  1. White (up to 1 year)

  2. Gray (4 to 6 years old)

  3. Yellow (04 to 15 years old)

  4. Orange (10 to 15 years old)

  5. Green (13 to 15 years old)
