What are Textual Genres?

Textual Genres are different forms of language used in texts, formal or informal forms or even both forms at the same time, regardless of the type of text, hence the name Textual Genres.

What are the existing Textual Genres?

They are the novel, the opinion article, the short story and the recipe, which are written genres, or even oral texts such as the class, the debate, the lecture, which are generic forms of classifying texts, whether literary or not, which, as they arise mainly from conventions, may vary, given the different criteria used.

How to define the Genre of a text?

You can define the genre of a text by its characteristics, these characteristics are well defined within any text and you can identify it very easily, these characteristics are: the subject, who is speaking, who is speaking to, its purpose, or whether the text is more narrative, instructional, argumentative, among many other characteristics that the text can have.

With this way of first analyzing the characteristics of the text to be able to identify the Textual Genre of the text you are reading, this definition becomes much easier.
